Overview
Thoracic Trigger Point
Treated Area: Neck
A Thoracic Trigger Point Injection is a medical procedure used to treat painful areas of muscle that contain trigger points, or knots of muscle that form when muscles do not relax. These trigger points in the thoracic region (the middle part of the back) can cause pain over the area and may also radiate pain to other locations.

Indications
- Limitations in Daily Activities: If muscle pain in the thoracic area significantly limits a persons daily activities, such as bending, lifting, or twisting, trigger point injections might be indicated to help restore function and reduce discomfort.
- Myofascial Pain Syndrome: This is the primary indication for a trigger point injection. It is characterized by pain originating from trigger points in muscle or fascia particularly where the pain persists despite other non-invasive treatments.
- Chronic Muscle Pain: For patients experiencing ongoing back pain due to muscle tension, spasms, or knots that do not adequately respond to therapies such as physical therapy, medications, or massage.
