overview
Joint Facet Pain – Lumbar RFA
Treated Area: Lower Back
A Lumbar RFA procedure is a minimally invasive treatment used to alleviate chronic lower back pain, typically caused by arthritis or other degenerative conditions affecting the facet joints in the lumbar spine.
Indications
Lumbar RFA is recommended for patients who have:
- Chronic Lower Back Pain: Patients who suffer from persistent lower back pain despite using non-invasive treatments such as physical therapy, medications, and corticosteroid injections.
- Facet Joint Pain: Facet joint pain arises from the small joints located between and behind adjacent vertebrae in the spine.
- Lumbar Spondylosis: This refers to general wear and tear of the spinal discs in the lumbar region. If this degeneration affects the facet joints or other nerve areas, RFA may be used to alleviate the associated pain.
