Treated Area: Lower Back
Lumbar Trigger Point Injections are a used to treat painful areas in the lumbar region, or lower back, where muscle knots, or trigger points, have developed. These trigger points are tense muscle fibers that can cause pain both at the site and in referred areas.
Indications
- Myofascial Pain Syndrome: This syndrome involves chronic pain in the muscle tissue and the fibrous tissue of the fascia, primarily due to trigger points in the lumbar region.
- Chronic Lower Back Pain: These injections are used for ongoing back pain associated with muscle spasms, tension, and knots that do not respond adequately to other forms of treatment like medication, physical therapy, or massage.
- Injury Recovery: After an injury such as a muscle strain from lifting heavy objects or a sudden movement, trigger points may form as part of the body’s response to injury, leading to persistent pain.
- Enhance Mobility: Reducing pain in the lumbar region can help improve mobility and allow for a more active lifestyle, which is often restricted by lower back pain.
