OVERVIEW
Cervical RFA
Treated Area: Neck and Upper Back
A Cervical RFA is a minimally invasive procedure used to reduce chronic pain in the neck and upper back area, particularly pain that radiates to the head, shoulders, and arms. This technique involves using radiofrequency energy to heat and temporarily deactivate specific nerves that carry pain signals to the brain, thereby providing pain relief. The cervical spine refers to the neck portion of the spine, comprising seven vertebrae (C1-C7). The nerves in the cervical area can become irritated or compressed due to various conditions.
Indications
Cervical RFA is recommended for patients who have:
- Cervical Spondylosis, also known as Neck Arthritis is the degeneration of the joints and discs in the neck which can lead to the development of bone spurs and the irritation or compression of cervical nerves
- Chronic Cervical Pain not responsive to conservative treatments like physical therapy, medications, or injections.
